  • Chantal is a co-founder of Odyssey Assessment Education and Training based in the West Midlands, Oxford and Hertfordshire. Chantal undertakes teaching and assessing across all ages for dyslexia and dyscalculia, including writing diagnostic reports for the Disabled Students Allowance (DSA). She also delivers training for educational professionals, parents and employers regarding; dyslexia, dyscalculia, visual disturbance/binocular instability, ADHD and Autism.

    Alongside Odyssey, Chantal lectures on the MA Dyslexia Research & Practice where she is responsible for training specialist dyslexia teachers and assessors. Additionally she lecturers on the PGCE-Post Compulsory Education (FE/HE) programme. Her remit is to raise awareness of inclusion, reasonable adjustments and special educational needs (SEN), as well as subject specific grammar for the English specialists. She also supports maths specialists with lesson planning and multisensory teaching techniques. Furthermore, she undertakes observations of trainee teachers, on their placements.

    As a qualified Maths and English teacher, she previously taught for 12 years in FE colleges ( Further Education), including contracts for; the British Army, Young Offenders and Probation Services. In addition to, family projects for the local county councils, Connexions and ESOL to international students.

    Since 2007, Chantal has worked in Higher Education Institutions (HEI). She teaches Maths, English and Study Skills to students with; mental health difficulties, dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD and Autism. She is responsible for supporting students through their courses, from foundation degrees, up to PhD's. Topics include; time management, organisation, planning, academic reading, researching and writing, as well as building the studentís confidence and self- esteem. The aim is to develop metacognition and strategies to support each individual student, to achieve their full potential.

  • Teresa, also a co-founder of Odyssey Assessment Education and Training, works as a freelance Dyslexia Tutor and Assessor in Edinburgh and its environs. She undertakes teaching and assessing within schools, colleges and Higher Education Institutions.

    She has taught since 1995, gaining experience teaching in primary and further education, before undertaking a MEd in Dyslexia Studies. She worked for 8 years as a SENCo in a Sixth Form College assessing students' needs, recommending learning targets and devising programmes of study. Since 2016 she has worked in Higher Education Institutions teaching study skills to students with dyslexia and autism. Additionally, she undertakes Exam Access Arrangements (EAA), assesses for dyslexia and writes diagnostic reports for the Disabled Students Allowance as well as work based assessments.

    By teaching techniques to make the process of learning easier and more effective, Teresa encourages students to take responsibility for their own learning and to be independent, productive and motivated. She creates individual student learning plans identifing strengths and areas for development. Each session is conducted 1:1 and is student centred, so the individual receives a personally tailored programme to suit their learning requirements.

  • Jen is a qualified primary school teacher who has experience of teaching the whole curriculum, specialising in English, Maths and Science. Work has included supporting her classes through their SAT's and also phonic screening tests. Jen has experience of working alongside a range of different special educational needs including, dyslexia, Autism, ADHD, hearing impairments and visual impairments. Jen also assesses across all ages for dyslexia, including writing diagnostic reports for the Disabled Students Allowance (DSA).

    Being dyslexic has provided Jen with first-hand experience of how crucial using high quality, personalised teaching strategies really are to the academic and emotional progress of a child. One of her strengths is planning and teaching inspiring, multisensory lessons in a safe and stimulating environment, where the child is engaged and is able to achieve their maximum learning potential.

    She can provide English and Maths tuition to primary aged children in South Birmingham, Worcestershire, Bromsgrove and Wolverhampton.
